The Joint Force Training Centre serves as a focal point for NATO combined and joint operations and warfare at the tactical level in order to assist the transformation of Allied and Partner forces.

The Joint Force Training Centre comprises the Commander, Command Group, and three functionally aligned Staff Divisions:

  • The Training and Exercise Division
  • The Training and Exercise Enabling Division
  • The Headquarters Support Division

The Joint Force Training Centre is supported in the execution of its mission by the NATO Communications and Information Agency CIS Support Unit Bydgoszcz, the JFTC Support Unit, and the Bydgoszcz Detachment of the Allied Command Counter Intelligence, all co-located with the JFTC in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

COMMAND GROUP

Commander

The Commander provides leadership for the Joint Force Training Centre to fulfil its mission. Under the Commander’s direction and guidance, the JFTC provides combined and joint training, static and distributed as well as single- and multi-echelon, for tactical level headquarters, staffs and forces over the full spectrum of Alliance operations, to include support of Alliance current operations and the Allied Reaction Force, supports concept development, experimentation and doctrine development, and ensures the integration of new concepts and doctrine into training. The Commander is advised and assisted in fulfilling his duties by the Deputy Commander / Chief of Staff, the Special Staff and the three Staff Division Heads.

Deputy Commander / Chief of Staff

The Deputy Commander / Chief of Staff leads and coordinates all aspects of the Staff’s work in support of the Commander, including tasking, direction and guidance, cross-staff support, oversight and management of resources and the development, and delivery of training and experiments. He deputises the Commander in his absence.

Director of Management

The Director of Management (DOM) leads the Divisions and special Staff in coordination of all the staff work requiring the attention of the Commander or Deputy Commander / Chief of Staff, coordinates the administrative support, and the information management.

TRAINING AND EXERCISE DIVISION

The Training and Exercise Division (TED) ensures the ability to deliver combined and joint training, static and distributed as well as single- and multi-echelon, for tactical level headquarters, staffs and forces over the full spectrum of Alliance operations, to include in support of Alliance current operations and the Allied Reaction Force (ARF).

TRAINING AND EXERCISE ENABLING DIVISION

The Training and Exercise Enabling Division (TEED) serves as a long-term, forward looking entity responsible for programming and scheduling of training, exercises and warfare development events. It provides the basis of JFTC’s engagement with Allied Command Transformation (ACT) warfare development activities. This Division also maintains the JFTC’s analysis and lessons learned capability for both training and institutional improvement.

HEADQUARTERS SUPPORT DIVISION

The Headquarters Support Division (HSD) ensures resource, infrastructure and property management and support at the JFTC and in support of static and, as required, distributed training and experiments. Through the JFTC Security Officer HSD is responsible for all aspects of security at the JFTC.
