General Rajmund Andrzejczak, Polish Chief of Defence (CHOD), visited the NATO’s Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) on 23 September. The visit was a part of a quarterly conference for commanders and representatives of key Polish military units. Major General Adam Joks, JFTC Commander, welcomed the guests who arrived at JFTC to explore the Centre and other NATO entities located in Bydgoszcz, the NATO Capital of Poland.

The meeting was a perfect occasion to introduce Polish generals to JFTC’s current activities, recent increase of capabilities and future challenges. Brigadier General Jozsef Szpisjak, JFTC Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, presented the Centre’s mission and latest developments in the area of training, exercises and NATO warfare development. The guests also received a detailed briefing on JFTC highlight of this year – Exercise Loyal Leda 2020 planned for autumn this year, and in-depth information about JFTC’s capabilities and plans in the area of innovations and experimentation.

Commanders of other NATO units located in Bydgoszcz (the 3rd NATO Signal Battalion, Military Police Centre of Excellence, NATO Force Integration Unit Poland, NATO Communications and Information Agency CIS Support Unit Bydgoszcz and JFTC Support Unit), also took part in the meeting. They presented their activities, which completed the overall picture of NATO presence in Bydgoszcz.

In his closing remarks, General Andrzejczak underlined the importance of experimentation and innovation as key elements of keeping the Alliance ready to react anytime and anywhere. Polish Chief of Defence referred to JFTC as to “a natural platform for exercises” that should also be a natural partner for the General and Operational Commands of the Polish Armed Forces.

The list of the generals who accompanied Polish CHOD at JFTC included General Jarosław Mika, General Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tadeusz Mikutel, First Deputy CHOD, Lieutenant General Tomasz Piotrowski, Armed Forces Operational Commander, Major General Dariusz Ryczkowski, Chief of Inspectorate for Armed Forces Support, and Brigadier General Dariusz Pluta, Deputy CHOD.

The meeting was yet another reflection of professional cooperation and friendly relations between JFTC and Polish Armed Forces.
